Built on a shortened 1960 refurbished VW Chassis.
Registered as a Beach Buggy in 2009
It has Historic Vehicle Status on its age related plate and chassis number, so is exempt from tax duty or requiring an MOT.
It was also exempt from requiring seat belts, however passengers got a little nervous about this, so I installed some.
Since completion it has always been kept well-maintained and in a secure garage. In recent years it has seen very little use, only coming out on the occassional sunny day.
Therefore I am hoping to find someone who will get some enjoyment out of it.
Below are some technical details, but please do ask any questions that you might have.
* King & Linkpin front suspension with height adjusters.
* 1600cc BoomTrike engine with twin ICT Carburettors, wrapped exhaust and stainless spark arrester/ muffler.
* GT Gearbox.
* Windscreen Frame and Sombrero roof imported from US.
* Adjustable roll bar.
* This Buggy chassis is extremely stiff due to the internal tubular chassis stiffeners powder-coated to match gell coat.
* Currently the engine sports a simple spark-arrester, which makes a great sound, but can be perceived as a little noisy on acceleration. This isn't for everyone, so you may or may not want to change this. I personally love the sound once it`s warmed up.
I have been an air-cooled VW enthusiast since my school days (in 70ies) when the original Manx Buggy was all the rage in California. I have been known to build the odd car in my spare time.
I added the sombrero top (vinyl roof) in 2021 which made it more suitable for British weather. (Although not suitable for motorway driving).
It's great fun to drive and always puts a smile on my face. (As well as the general public)
