Description
For sale is my JDM 2025 Toyota GR Yaris (Gen 2) RC - being the lightweight version, produced for specifically with the intention for use in motorsport. In Toyota Gazoo Racing terminology, the RC trim is essentially the ‘race base’ specification. Toyota explicitly described it as ‘ready for customisation for racing’. Other nuanced differences include rally-compatible front knuckles, to accommodate smaller wheel/ tyre combinations suited for off road driving. This is the homologation base car for rally teams, who planned to modify the car themselves rather than pay for comfort features they would remove anyway.
This version deletes the radio / infotainment / sat-nav system, no speakers or colourful trim, it even has regular turn-key ignition, simplified interior, no sound insulation and halogen headlights instead of LEDs – a saving of 30kgs over the RZ – equivalent to essentially the core model in European markets for the Gen 2. Bizarley though it does have parking sensors, which were controvenstionally not avilable on the Gen 1 High Performance version.
This was orded with optional larger 18” Enkei wheels with 225/ 40R18 8J Dunlop SportMaxx tyres and associated larger ‘RZ’ spec brakes, alebit which come in subtle black callipers rather than the familiar red. Water spray for the intercooler has also been spec'd, not available in EU/ UK. Optional A/ C specified to make it truely useable.
The updated Gen 2 GR Yaris launched in Japan for 2024, with the RC obviously inheriting the major drivetrain upgrades, including the full 304ps engine (thanks to no OPF requirement in Japan), revised AWD calibration, stronger transmission and improved cooling and chassis tuning.
The Yaris RC is exceptionally rare in the UK (I'm aware of only one other) so it's the chance to own an especially rare model a cut below the price commanded by the 'special edition' varities. Note that this is not a Japanese auction car but was dealer-ordered by my Japan-based brother who stored it for six months prior to shipping to me in the UK. It was serviced by by Aichi Toyota, local to the Motomachi plant where all GR Yaris are manufactured, well-ahead of the schedule just prior to leaving Japan.
The car has full UK spec foglamp and controls fitted using only OEM Toyota parts. Further to this, it's been digitally converted to MPH to suit DVSA IVA certification and is UK registered with number plate RC04 GRY - ready to drive away.
