This 1958 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL combines timeless design with the qualities most valued by collectors: matching numbers, documented provenance and an exceptionally comprehensive history file.
The car was manufactured in 1958 in a special factory specification for the US market – Sonderausführung für USA SA 1009-121 – and ordered through Studebaker-Packard in South Bend, Indiana, then a Mercedes-Benz distributor in the United States.

These numbers correspond with the markings on the car and were independently verified and photographed during a professional appraisal.
The car was completed on 10 July 1958. Its US-market specification included a left exterior mirror, five whitewall tyres, special upholstery configuration and a Becker Europa radio.
The original factory colour combination was Weissgrau with red leather interior (1079) and black fabric soft top (872).
Artcurial Provenance
In November 2017, the car was sold at the prestigious Artcurial Automobiles sur les Champs auction to a French collector from Paris, from whom it has now been acquired.
The sale was also covered by the French motoring press. Original auction materials and related publications are included in the documentation.
In January 2018, the car underwent an independent appraisal by a French specialist in collector vehicles, confirming both the chassis and factory-assigned engine numbers.

The car has been maintained by specialist European workshops including König Cars, Art et Prototypes and Sport-Tech 83, with parts supplied by recognised classic Mercedes specialists such as Niemöller.
The records document extensive work on the fuel system, carburettors, ignition and electrical systems, generator, brakes, suspension, heating and ventilation, instruments and interior equipment.
A major programme of mechanical and electrical work was completed in 2016. Further invoices document carburettor adjustment and sealing in 2024 and front-wheel work in 2025.

Ready for Registration in Poland
The car is fully prepared for registration in Poland. The documents have been translated by a sworn translator and excise-duty exemption documentation has been obtained.

The car is sold under a VAT-margin invoice, therefore the buyer does not incur the additional 2% Polish PCC tax.
