1998 Mercedes-Benz CLK320 V6 – Stunning Condition – Same Family Since New
1998 Mercedes CLK320 V6 petrol finished in a beautiful deep red and, despite the mileage, this is genuinely one of those cars that needs to be seen to be appreciated.
Being a very early CLK, it’s refreshingly simple compared with the later cars — a proper old-school Mercedes with the lovely 3. 2 V6 and without an unnecessary amount of electronics to cause headaches.
The car has covered just over 169, 000 miles, but please don’t let the mileage put you off. Have a good look through the photos and you’ll see just how well this car has been looked after. The interior in particular is exceptional for its age and mileage, with very little wear or damage.
What makes the history quite unusual is that the car has effectively stayed within the same family since new. Although the logbook shows four previous owners, they are all related — brother, sister, mother and then brother again. That goes a long way towards explaining the condition it remains in today.
Mechanically it drives beautifully. It feels tight, smooth and exactly as a well-cared-for CLK320 should. It has been fully serviced and everything works as it should, with no known hidden gremlins or annoying issues.
It also benefits from:
Genuine 18" AMG alloy wheels with brand-new tyres
Upgraded AMG grooved front brake discs
Upgraded xenon headlights
New auxiliary belt, plus a spare belt included
Spare power-steering pump included for peace of mind
Tow bar — useful for a small trailer or caravan
2 keys
Private registration included
MOT until March 2027
The bodywork presents extremely well and, importantly, doesn't suffer from lacquer peel. It isn't being advertised as a concours car and, being nearly 30 years old with this mileage, there are naturally a few minor imperfections if you go looking for them. Overall though, it is a remarkably presentable and honest example.
It's also a surprisingly good everyday classic — comfortable, smooth, plenty of power from the V6 and more economical to run than you might expect.
I'm not trying to pretend it's a 40k mile museum piece. It's simply a very well cared-for, honest CLK320 with great family history that looks and drives far better than its mileage would suggest.
A lovely usable modern classic that you can actually enjoy without being frightened to put miles on it.
First serious person to see and drive it will appreciate just how good it is.
