Description
Honda GL500 Silverwing (Goldwing Smaller Sister) 1983 Excellent Condition. I bought this motorcycle from my neighbour while being on assignment in Germany as a little project to keep me busy while being away. Motorcycle was in good condition and in constant road use.
I have taken the engine apart due to small leak from mechanical water pump seal and also replaced below:
- thermostat and all o-rings
- new magneto
- all engine covers gaskets/ o-rings
-all shaft seals
I have also taken front suspension apart and replaced all bushes, fork oil seals and re filled with fresh oil. All Parts used are genuine Honda (apart from magneto).
Motorcycle is soaked in rust preventive sprays.
Absolutely no rust in the tank. Just a couple of small chips on the outside which have been protected. Previous owner and myself always filled it with premium fuel and fuel additive for classic motorcycles to prevent from rust.
Before bringing bike to UK I have taken it to MOT station in Germany (TUV) and passed with no advisories.
New engine oil (Liqui Moly 15W/ 40) and new drive shaft oil.
Motorcycle rides as it should for motorcycle from 80’s.
I have visited Eastern Germany on this bike with no issues.
That’s a honest motorcycle which starts first time. I also have original German Brief (V5) when bike was new and a couple of copies of German Mot’s. I only just managed to register bike in UK. Selling due to having another brand new bike.
Current mileage approx. 42k miles, but that’s not a a lot for bulletproof Honda twin engine with plenty of life left..
Engine runs very smooth.
I recently adjusted the valves clearances.
I also have some spares in my garage (not included in this price).
You can expect some wear and tear was this 43 years old motorcycle, but in general is in excellent condition. Everything works as it should. Ready for long trip. MOT and Tax exempt. In genuine condition.
There isn’t many around in original condition.
