1980 Porsche 911 Turbo 3. 3 (930) – UK Supplied – RHD – Extensive Documented History
Offered for sale from a private family collection, this is a genuine UK-supplied 1980 Porsche 911 Turbo 3. 3 (Type 930), finished in its original Guards Red (027) with black leather interior.
First registered on 7 February 1980 and originally supplied by Gordon Ramsay Ltd Porsche Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne, the car is right-hand drive and retains its UK registration. It has covered 101, 018 miles and comes with an unusually comprehensive history file documenting the car over more than four decades.
The history includes the original Porsche Turbo Driver's Manual and Maintenance Record, extensive service invoices and stamps from recognised Porsche specialists, historic MOT certificates documenting the mileage progression, and correspondence and certification from Porsche Cars Great Britain.
In 1995 Porsche Cars GB authenticated the car's original specification, confirming it as a British-market 930 Turbo finished in Guards Red with black leather interior and factory-fitted Sport Seats, air conditioning, electric sunroof, electric passenger mirror and Panasonic radio. The specification also includes the period factory recoil bumpers.
The car has a fully documented engine history which is disclosed openly. The original factory engine suffered a failure in May 1990 at 67, 483 miles and was professionally rebuilt by Chappell Porsche. In February 1991 a period-correct 1987-specification Porsche 930 3. 3-litre engine was subsequently fitted. This is the engine currently installed in the car. The relevant invoices and documentation are retained within the history file.
The car presents in its original Guards Red and retains many of the period-correct details that distinguish a genuine 930, including the whale-tail rear spoiler, wide arches and Fuchs wheels. The interior is largely original, including the factory five-gauge instrument cluster, original dashboard, heating controls and three-spoke Porsche steering wheel.
The car has been kept in long-term static storage in southern Spain. It runs, and the bodywork is described as rust-free. However, because of the period of storage, no representation is being made that the car is ready for immediate regular road use. A prospective purchaser should expect to have the car inspected and recommissioned as necessary before use. This is reflected in the way the car is being offered and buyers are encouraged to arrange an independent Porsche specialist inspection.
The accompanying history file is a particularly important part of the car and includes original factory documentation, Porsche Cars GB correspondence, service records, invoices, MOT certificates and documentation relating to the engine work and the car's ownership history. The complete file is available for inspection by serious prospective buyers.
The car is currently located in southern Spain and is available to view by prior appointment. It remains on its UK registration and can either remain in Spain subject to the purchaser's circumstances or be transported/ repatriated to the UK or elsewhere in Europe. It formed part of our late father's private collection and was kept because he was a lifelong Porsche enthusiast, classic-car collector and qualified motor engineer. He appreciated cars for their engineering, originality and provenance, and this was exactly the sort of Porsche that appealed to him.
The 930 Turbo is one of the most distinctive Porsches of its era, and this example has the combination we particularly love: Guards Red, the iconic wide Turbo body and whale-tail spoiler, Fuchs wheels and a black leather interior. Being a genuine UK-supplied right-hand-drive 3. 3-litre Turbo makes it even more special.
