Calling all collectors and connoisseurs of fine British motoring.
If modern supercars strike you as oversized household appliances, here is the antidote: a Bentley Brooklands Coupé, hand-built in Crewe in a production run limited to 550 cars worldwide, with fewer believed to have actually left the factory.
Unveiled at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show, the Brooklands was conceived as the successor to the Continental R and T and derived from the Azure convertible. It takes its name from the legendary British circuit where Bentley built its racing reputation. It is the last of Crewe's great hand-crafted grand touring coupés, and the most powerful expression of the legendary 6. 75-litre V8 of its time.
The headline figure: 1, 050 Nm of torque, the highest ever claimed by a production V8 at launch. In practice, you don't accelerate so much as gently persuade the Earth to rotate in the opposite direction. All of this from the comfort of a true English drawing room in leather and fine wood veneers, in near-silent serenity.
