Welcome to the sale of a much loved and cared for family owned Volkswagen Scirocco Mk2 Scala 1. 8 injection which we have had for 11 years.
This car was a Category C in 2013. It was then bought back and repaired due to having such low mileage and being in great condition otherwise. You can see the repair under the bonnet at the front of the car.
In the time we have had it, the car has covered just under 15, 000 miles. It was on 55k when we bought it. The previous owners kept a comprehensive history file which has been contributed to over the years with MOT certificates and various receipts. Plenty more has been done over the years where receipts have been misplaced but a lot is there.
This is a good usable example of an appreciating classic Volkswagen Coupe. Underrated compared with its Golf counterpart and having the A1 mk1 golf chassis, the car arguably handles better than a mk2 Golf.
We’ve loved taking it to shows such as the scirocco register national meet, festival of the unexceptional and VW festival, and has only really been used in the summer months for these shows (regularly warmed up through winter).
It however is not a concourse vehicle, and have included pictures of things that will need attention.

Things that need attention
The paintwork is not in mint condition. There is lacquer peel and paint has faded in a few places and this needs attention.
The parcel shelf disintegrated shortly after we bought the car as it was old/ damaged, so there’s a temporary replacement there for the time being.
Steering wheel has a chunk out of it (see below)
Tears in the usual places on the driver’s seat.
Small cracks starting to appear on the dash - minimal at the moment and currently use a towel to reduce the spread.
Reason for sale
Unfortunately a couple of months ago thieves broke into the Scirocco and tried to steal it - thankfully they didn’t, but they caused some damage which we’ve fixed most of.
We’ve fixed some of the parts they’d broken including the door and lock. They also attempted to break the stop lock off and in doing so took a chunk out of the steering wheel, which has been temporarily repaired (see photos).
Since this, and how little the car is being used we feel it’s time for the car to go to an enthusiast owner who will use it and enjoy it.
The Scirocco turns heads wherever it goes and gets lots of compliments from people. It really brings a lot of joy to people and that in itself brings a satisfaction no modern car can.
