Exported to Australia and bodied by Holden of Adelaide. Chassis No R3212. Restored in Australia and the subject of an Australian magazine article in 1999. I have located and purchased a copy of the original magazine which is a useful account of the car’s story from about 1982. Imported to the UK in 2007. There is a dating certificate from The Society of Automotive Historians confirming a build date of 1928. I bought it at auction last year as a non runner after a long period of storage. It’s now running well after all the usual service items but also; reconditioned AutoVac, fuel tank removed, cleaned and coated (Renu), fuel lines removed and cleaned, new ht leads, dizzy cap, points, plugs. Improvements include 5 new Blockley tubes and tyres, Flexolite spin on oil filter (replacing a disconnected original unit), air filter (previously missing), fuel cut off solenoid (to avoid manually turning fuel off), renovate rear Andre Hartford shock absorbers, modern fuel gauge, phone charging socket, running board tool box. The chrome hubs were very tarnished. These have been powder coated in a chrome like finish. Drain added to catch water running off the boot lid. I’ve also cleaned and painted the chassis. Wheels stripped and painted. Front brakes stripped down, cleaned and adjusted. Rear brakes adjusted. New battery. Replacement renovated rear lamp, Klaxon horn repaired and powder coated. The paintwork is generally very good although there are areas which could be improved. The hood lining has seen better days but is completely serviceable. I have driven in heavy rain and it is waterproof! Full set of side screens. Note. They fit nicely but restrict door opening. Needs some further consideration. No windscreen wiper motor. This was a foray into 1920s motoring and I’ve decided it’s really too big a car for me and I’d prefer a 1930s saloon. I’ll also include an original Handbook, Workshop manual, new head gasket and hub puller which are all items I’ve managed to source.
Good starter (even from cold). Comfortable and smooth on the road. Has real presence.
