1996 Mercedes-Benz E300 Diesel Estate (S124) | OM606 | Auto | 7 Seater | MOT June 2027
A genuinely fantastic, honest S124 with the legendary OM606 engine. It has been very well looked after by all five owners, including the previous owner of 18 years. I bought it in August 2024 and immediately had it put through Merx in Macclesfield, a well-known Mercedes specialist.
Merx work, September 2024 (206, 114 miles, £1, 917 invoice)
* Comprehensive service: engine oil and filter, fuel filter, air filter
* Gearbox oil and filter renewed
* Both rear suspension spheres renewed
* Prop shaft coupling renewed
* Front wheel bearings adjusted
* Welding to the nearside front floor and both front inner wings
Since then:
* New stainless steel rear exhaust and silencer (JP Exhausts)
* New tow bar
* Sunroof overhauled with original parts and OEM grease
* Excellent Dunlop tyres
* Recent 2, 000-mile trip to Belgium without a single issue
Spec:
* Silver (744) with black cloth interior
* 7 seats
* Original Becker stereo
* Electric windows and sunroof all working
* Central locking with 2 keys
* No aircon
The interior is excellent, and the driver's seat has been replaced. The sills and jacking points are very good, and the rear window seals are sound.
To be upfront:
* The paint needs attention on the bonnet, front wings and nearside rear window trim
* There is minor rust on the front wings
* There is some bubbling around the tailgate infrared sensor
* The bonnet springs have failed
* The tailgate struts can be lazy in cold weather
None of this affects how the car drives, which is superbly.
An extensive file of invoices, receipts, MOTs and stamps comes with the car.
This is a reluctant sale. I don't have the dry storage this car deserves to keep its condition.
