This is a very rare model as only 877 were made for export only between 1947 and 1950. First supplied to Switzerland as an export RHD in 1949 then repatriated to the UK in 1963 at which time it had covered about 12000 miles. 43 old MOT certificates show the mileage climbing steadily to the present 24831. Mr Brian Leese who owned the YT from 1972-2008 had it restored in 1986 and sold it to Mr David French who had it restored again in 2008/ 9 with a bare metal respray in the original shade of light green, stainless steel exhaust and a 5 speed gearbox conversion. The car presents very well with very good paintwork and chrome, the interior is also in very good order with the upholstery having been restored and new carpets fitted. The hood, side-screens and tonneau are also in excellent condition. This matching numbers low mileage MG YT comes with a huge history file detailing previous owners, invoices for work done, an original handbook, correspondence with previous owners and MG clubs and much more.
I bought this MG YT about 3 years ago as I used to have one when I was a student in the 1970's and enjoyed using it but I did not realise how rare they were. I always said, in later life, that if I ever saw another for sale I would buy it. I never intended to sell the car but now, do to poor eyesight I have lost my driving licence and my wife will not drive it. During my ownership the MG has always been garaged and covered and new front springs and bushes have been fitted. This is a lovely car and needs to be used, it will give the new keeper a lot of pleasure.
