Description
1971 Land Rover Series 2A Petrol – Genuine 32, 000 Miles – Original Factory White – Dry Stored for 40+ Years
Overview
A rare opportunity to acquire a highly original, single-family ownership since 1972, 1971 Land Rover Series 2A petrol, offering a fantastic basis for a sympathetic restoration. Features genuine low mileage of under 32, 000 miles, matching engine and chassis, and a history supported by original paperwork.
• Single Family Ownership: Purchased by the seller’s late father in 1972.
• Documentation: Includes the 1972 sales receipt and supporting paperwork establishing clear provenance. The vehicle was first registered in August 1971 and sold in 1972, and documentation is available for inspection.
• Time-Capsule Storage: Driven regularly until 1979, then parked due to the fuel crisis. It was moved into dry garage storage in the early 1980s and remained untouched for over 40 years.
• Current Status: Recently moved into a neighbouring garage for the first time this year. Photographed in situ in its long-term storage location.
Key Features and Restoration Appeal
• Highly Original: Retains its matching-numbers original factory engine and chassis.
• Factory Paint: Wears its original, unrestored factory white paint, only the grill
Panel having been touched up.
• Unmolested Example: A genuine, complete "barn find" opportunity that has not been modified over the decades.
An unrepeatable chance for collectors or Land Rover enthusiasts to restore an authentic piece of motoring history.
White wasn’t a standard colour option for this year of series 2a, however this was ordered in white from new and was supplied to glovers of Ripon, and the following chassis numbered vehicle
after this was also white I’ve been informed
By an enthusiast
Currently 2 exhaust sections are
Removed from the vehicle, but are supplied with it.
Bulkhead is in great condition and not been repaired
Rear crossmember has an old historic repair (piece welded) due to an over enthusiastic towing effort by my dad (not due to rot)
Very minor rusting to door tops and surface to footwells (photos can be provided) all still extremely solid.
Due to the length of this vehicles hibernation it will require a thorough going over/ restoration, but does roll on its wheels for loading purposes
