Description
Triumph Bonneville T100 “Savage Blue” — 2005
One-off custom scrambler by Maria Motorcycles, Portugal
Savage Blue is a unique, hand-built Triumph Bonneville T100 scrambler, created by Maria Motorcycles in Lisbon, Portugal.
Originally built as a personal motorcycle for the founder of Maria Motorcycles, this project was never intended to be just another custom show bike. The idea was to create a genuine, functional scrambler, combining the character and simplicity of the classic air-cooled Bonneville with the spirit of 1960s off-road racing motorcycles.
Having built more than 20 custom Bonnevilles over the years, Maria Motorcycles used that experience to develop a machine that would be as enjoyable to ride as it is to look at.
The transformation began by stripping the original 2005 Bonneville T100 down to its essentials, reducing unnecessary weight and simplifying its overall design.
One of the most distinctive features is the Yamaha RD400 fuel tank, extensively modified to fit the Triumph frame, giving the motorcycle a much slimmer and more aggressive silhouette. A bespoke leather seat, shortened rear subframe, handcrafted aluminium number plates and polished aluminium details complete its unmistakable vintage racing appearance.
The motorcycle also features a completely bespoke twin stainless steel exhaust system, inspired by classic flat-track racers. The original airbox was retained for reliability, while a K&N air filter and carburettor adjustments complement the new exhaust configuration.
The front suspension was upgraded with revised springs and oil, and several other components were modified or replaced to improve the riding experience.
Unlike many custom scramblers, Savage Blue was genuinely developed and tested off-road before receiving its final paintwork and road equipment.
Its striking blue livery, polished metalwork and carefully considered proportions give it a distinctive character, somewhere between a vintage desert racer and a contemporary custom motorcycle.
