Description

I’m listing for sale my Defender that has undergone a comprehensive mechanical rebuild. The drivetrain, axles, brakes, steering, suspension and associated systems have been extensively renewed using genuine, OEM and high-quality upgraded components, installed by local Land Rover specialists.
I planned for this to be my forever Defender, so the work has been completed to a very high standard using the best components. Plans have since changed (bought another Defender project), and I am now offering it to someone looking for a mechanically sorted Defender.
The truck has covered just over 76, 000 miles and is supported by more than £20, 000 of parts invoices, a detailed MOT and history, and far too many rebuild photos!
The investment has gone into the mechanical and structural systems to make it drive as well as possible. It drives exceptionally well, particularly on longer journeys, where the 1. 21-ratio transfer box and extensive sound-deadening make a noticeable difference. The brake and servo upgrade from LOF with Pioneer braided hoses makes it stop like a modern car. It has the Gwyn Lewis drop arm steering conversion kit with stainless steel steering bars and a rebuilt steering box with all new TREs so it steers perfectly. Also new galvanised anti roll bars and genuine bushes throughout and new genuine Puma suspension all round. The Puma suspension and Michelin tyres perform really well. The ride is actually comfortable which isn't easy to achieve on a Defender! All hubs, bearings, swivels etc done with genuine parts and everything that can be powdercoated, zinc plated or galvanised has been. All fixings replaced with A4-80 stainless too. The underneath looks exceptional.
The interior has had a full overhaul too. I sourced a full genuine moorland interior and it has had a new seatbox, front and middle floors from YRM, stainless threshold retainers, new mats, Puma headliner and even a new dashboard.
The vehicle was professionally converted to a 300TDI by Astwood 4x4 in 2019 at a documented cost of approximately £8, 000. Astwood also completed all the bodywork and respray at that time with a new Puma roof, headlining and all new doors. The Java Black Metallic paint presents very well with a small number of age-related marks. The bulkhead is in very good condition with no signs of any rust.
The original chassis is in great condition and has been described as in beautiful condition by a local Land Rover specialist. A localised offside-rear repair was completed recently.
It would suit someone looking for an unusually well-sorted traditional Defender without having to undertake the time, cost and development work involved in creating one.

There are a couple of minor things to point out. The crossmember is solid but it will eventually need a replacement but there's lots of life left in it. I've recently bare metalled and painted it to protect it.

I've also found a small hole in the rear passenger door bottom. Easy enough to fix just not got around to it.

Serious enquiries and inspections are welcome. A detailed history and seller pack is available to genuinely interested buyers.

If I've missed anything or think of anything else, I'll add it to the advert.
