Previously owned by a Mercedes-Benz mechanic and boasts an impressive history of main dealer and specialist care. Finished in "Smoke Silver" two tone over "Mushroom" leather, and with the mileage at a fair 85200 miles, just 3 previous owners and years of servicing history makes for a smart package. The car boasts an MOT until summer 2027 and has recent been recently serviced at MB Centre Nottingham. A new Bosch battery has been installed too.
The car had the entire rear subframe replaced due to rot/ rust prior to my ownership in 2019 which is a known issue on this generation of Mercedes and unlikely to be covered by the manufacturer ( see article on SL Shop website R129 Killer) The car has benefitted from a new coat of paint on the side skirts which has really freshened up the look and I swapped the alloys previously on the vehicle for the period correct one piece 16 inch wheels. The falken tyres have covered less than 1k in miles.
It uses PowerCool 180 as a waterless coolant, to provide a superior level of temperature protection for the engine. Its been well maintained and after a refresh of the front suspension drives like a car with far less mileage under its belt.
The aluminium hardtop does need some work as can be seen from the images with patches of bubbling at all four corners. The AC has a slight leak so is not currently operating. The roof mechanism and windows have been subject of recent repairs and are in good working order. A patch repair on the hem on the OSR of the soft top is evident aside from that there are very little signs of wear.
The car has modest mileage and has had significant sums spent on it in my ownership over the last 4 years. The colour combination give it a real edge over most other examples and really exudes a luxury feel. I purchased it at auction through trade classics due to its solid history, overall condition and desirable looks. My aim was to try and refresh it and hang on to it for a good while longer but it just doesn’t get the use it deserves. The car gives passengers a first-class luxurious experience. It is in effect a 2 seater as the mini seats have been removed from the rear. It offers great cruising abilities that will enable you to cross continents effortlessly. With the plentiful power of an Inline-6 at your toes simply sit back, relax and enjoy the drive as it wafts through the gears.
The interior was refreshed with OEM carpets from the same factory producing the original mats, retro blaupunkt Bluetooth head unit, all interior bulbs replaced, centre console strut and new door pocket hinges.
The car was garaged over the winter months so there is very little sign of corrosion underneath. It suffered a very minor oil leak but has now had the valve cover gasket replaced. It will be sold with hard top cover, folding stand, Ring battery conditioner, fitted indoor and outdoor covers.
