Description
After a series of conversations around the dinner table about ‘clearing driving space’, I’ve decided I better slim down my collection. So, on that note, I offer for sale my 1999 Saab 9-5 Aero HOT in Scarab Green.
It’s my daily driver at the minute and has an advisory free MoT until the end of September 2027, however it will need some tender love and care to get it to show condition.
A minor recommissioning took place in July-August of this year and included a service, welding to the spare wheel well, a headlight alignment, and a new DIC. It also had a ticking noise checked over but my mechanic informed me that these engines were always noisy and it’s just sticky toppets and nothing to worry about. As well as this, I swapped the seats for newer (and really quite valuable) aero seats which are amazingly comfortable.
It could however do with some paintwork, a refurbishment of the wheels, and possibly a new timing chain in the future (I can source relevant parts for the new owner if desired) but it would make a very worthwhile project whilst still remaining useable.
Unfortunately previous history has been lost, but the car can come with various assorted parts including an original (but unpainted) Aero spoiler and a Thule roof rack. I also realised after I bought it that the car is Cat S, which was quite the surprise when the logbook came through my door. I believe upon further inspection that it has had a replacement drivers door and wing but have no information beyond this.
But, ultimately, even through all its faults shines a rare opportunity to own possibly the coolest fast estate of the era in probably the best colour offered, and it would be a perfect useable future classic after some light restoration.
