For sale is my 2003 Sprint Blue Audi A2 1. 6 FSi Colour Storm. For those who know about Audi A2s, VAG’s FSi (Fuel Stratified Injection) BAD engine has a somewhat chequered reputation for costly reliability issues, however this particular example would be perfect for anyone who had been thinking about dipping their toe in the water of FSi ownership, who is looking for a mechanically really sound example of this innovative little car, but whose budget does not extend to one of the most expensive examples for sale. With its low mileage and comprehensive service history it should provide its new owner years of relatively trouble-free motoring if properly looked after. The FSi is ULEZ-free and generally considered to be the most enjoyable A2 to drive, providing something approaching warm hatch performance, thanks to a decently powerful engine and its incredibly light weight. The Colour Storm variant of the A2 was launched in a variety of eye catching colours and contrast black trim aimed at a younger audience.

The car drives outstandingly well. It always starts flawlessly, idle is steady. The gearchange is exceptionally light and precise. Ride on the Audi TT wheels is remarkably good, and there are absolutely no untoward noises from the suspension or steering. It averages 45 mpg in mixed driving. It received a new timing belt and water pump in June 2024. New tyres were fitted in July 2026. Air conditioning is ice cold. I should point out that at its last service/ MOT at B&F a couple of weeks ago, a few advisories were noted, however I was advised that none were considered urgent:
- Headlights contain condensation (this is only apparent in wet weather)
- Front brake flexi hoses splitting
- Drivers side rear spring corroded (just surface corrosion)
- Breather housing weeping engine oil (no evidence of a significant leak from monitoring oil level)
- Nearside front and both rear shock absorbers have light misting of oil
The car’s external condition is generally good. There are no dents in the bodywork save for a minute pin dent in the nearside rear door. There are a couple of scuffs/ scratches, ahead of the offside wheelarch, on the offside front door handle and on the tailgate above the FSi badge. There is a small patch of lacquer peel on the tailgate below the A2 badge, and a couple of tiny spots on the bonnet. In spite of these defects the paintwork still really pops when polished. The wheels are in excellent condition besides some peeling paint on a couple of the centre caps.
The interior condition is mostly excellent. The sports seats are very clean and show little sign of wear; they are way more supportive and comfortable than the original Colour Storm seats. The soft touch buttons show very little wear and the sports steering wheel is in excellent condition. The driver’s side air vent control has broken so the direction of the flaps can’t be changed. The roof lining was sagging in both rear corners (a common issue with these cars) but has been reglued and though it looks slightly messy the repair held through last summer’s heat.
The dash-top carplay display works exceptionally well, and integrates really well with the bluetooth adaptor to give excellent audio quality, as well as very high resolution display of the reversing camera.

The Audi A2 is an exceptional value Future Classic, its looks may not appeal to everyone but I love them. It’s hugely practical and, in FSi form, great to drive. Finally the owners club (A2OC) is second to none, providing a wealth of support if you have any issues.
