Description
Pontiac racing car from 1933. Built on the basis of the 1933 Pontiac Eight saloon, which was converted into this fabulous racing car. To make the car more capable, the chassis was lightened wherever possible and the saloon bodywork was replaced with an aluminium shell-style body. The engine was kept largely original. Only a twin carburettor was fitted to gain a little more power. The 3-speed gearbox was retained. The electrical system was converted to 12 V, so the engine is now fitted with an alternator. An electric fan and an electric fuel pump were installed to improve reliability. The engine runs very well and, thanks to the side exhaust, gives an aggressive sound. As the car is quite fast thanks to all the changes, the brakes were converted to hydraulic brakes and aluminium drums were provided to improve braking performance. For road handling, the leaf springs front and rear were fitted with Hartford friction dampers. The 18-inch wire wheels were shod with Goodrich BF tyres, and the car was equipped with an identical spare wheel. Other details contributing to the fantastic appearance of the car include the leather tool roll on the driver's side, the brass fittings, the dark red leather interior, the small windscreen and its paint. The car comes with a full cover to protect it on rainy days.
