After 61 (!) years in production, the Opel Kadett was replaced in 1991 by the Opel Astra, which was intended to be much more modern, offering a totally new look. With its 125bhp (1. 8l), the Astra GSi 16V quickly established itself as a credible alternative to the Volkswagen Golf GTI, Peugeot 306 S16 and Renault Clio Williams. Its distinctive design, mechanical reliability and driving pleasure made it a much-appreciated car among enthusiasts of sporty youngtimers. After a facelift in September 1994, the first version of the Opel Astra will be replaced in 1998. NYC's/ OXOTO is offering for sale a magnificent example with just under 170, 000 kilometres, in black with grey cloth interior with blue and red stripes. Delivered new in Belgium in April 1994, it has only had 1 owner! In fact, we still have the original registration certificate. It was its owner's everyday car, before he sold it a few years ago to a passionate collector of "little bombs". The latter kept it intact, servicing it (he's a garage owner) but not registering it. Thanks to his excellent Car Pass tracking system (see link), we can trace the mileage and see how this beautiful Opel Astra GSi has fared. The bodywork looks really good, even though it's still in its first coat of paint! No dents, no scratches and not the slightest trace of corrosion, which is quite rare. The interiors of the components, such as the rear wheel arches, are in excellent condition. It's never been damaged either. The only cosmetic defect is a crack in the right-hand front indicator, but as for the rest, there's really nothing to complain about... The interior is also in excellent condition, including the original bucket seats, the crack-free dashboard, the door interiors, the roof lining, the carpets, etc. Everything has been perfectly preserved. As for the mechanics, we have the original service book, which confirms that the car has been perfectly maintained. The car's current owner has also carried out all the necessary maintenance since he bought it (oil changes, filters, etc.) and we can clearly confirm that it drives very well. In addition to the service booklet, we have the owner's manual and the COC for possible export. We know that this car is at the top end of the market for this model, but finding an Astra GSi 16V in perfect condition is becoming rare. Buying a car in need of restoration can quickly become an expensive project without being able to enjoy it quickly, which is not the case with the model we are offering for sale.
