Description
Kellison was an American entrepreneur who, in the late 1950s, began building and selling kit cars made from fibreglass. When he closed his company, he had built around 1, 000 bodies. A Kellison is a rare car!
This J4 model was produced in a run of about 300 units. This Kellison is registered as a 1973 Pontiac, as it is the car that donated its engine and transmission for the project. The car is equipped with a Jaguar XK120 front suspension and a GM solid rear axle. The car appears to have been built in the mid to late 1970s and features a modified roofline that is several centimetres higher than the stock originals. The modified roofline on this example provides better proportions as well as more practical door openings and a roomier interior. The custom-designed Targa roof is another nice touch. The fit of the panels seems exceptional for an old fibreglass-bodied kit car and testifies to the original builders’ patience and effort. Thanks to a swivelling steering column, getting in and out is easier. The car might benefit from a new paint job, but it starts and runs very well.
