Description
For sale: authentic English Jaguar XK 140 (343 examples). This is a pre-production version (two-part front bonnet). The Jaguar, which was sound to begin with, underwent a “bare metal” restoration. It has regained its original colour (BRG) shown on its Heritage Trust Jaguar certificate. Engine compression is good and balanced. The fuel pump has been replaced with a Facet. It benefits from electronic ignition 1-2-3 and a new ignition loom. A full clutch kit has been fitted. The entire braking system has had the copper pipes and hoses replaced, as well as the master cylinder, wheel cylinders, linings and adjustment parts. The rear shock absorbers are new and adjustable. The front shock absorbers (Koni) are in good condition. The cooling system has been revised on the advice of the Jaguar Exclusive Club... Inside, the carpeting and trim have been replaced. The leather has kept a nice patina. The wood veneers have been refinished. The tyres are new and the exhaust system is stainless steel. Most of the chrome parts have been bought or re-chromed. I have removed the overriders which I feel spoil the Jaguar’s aesthetics. On the dashboard, all instruments operate except the clock. On the latter, a small plaque bearing the name of the Duncan Hamilton Showroom, the celebrated English driver who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1953 at the wheel of a Jaguar Type D, is fixed. The headlights and the battery are new. It has just benefited from the fine-tuning of the carburettors and ignition. A new aluminium radiator has been fitted. The technical inspection is OK. I have owned this car since 2018. A swap with a Jaguar Type E V12 could be envisaged. With thanks for reading.
