Description

ALFA ROMEO SPIDER 2000 CODA TRONCA 1974
Second owner since 1974 in Cannes (not a true first owner)
Metallic grey 737 / green interior

The Alfa Romeo Spider 2000, one of the Italian marque’s greatest successes of the era. A creation by the famous Pininfarina, this car owes its success to its lines, especially to that famous truncated rear which earned it the nickname “coda tronca.” The second series of spiders, introduced in 1971 to replace the “coda longa,” is a cabriolet of elegant chrome and angular lines, as we find here.
On the engine side, its 2. 0L delivering 133 hp is torquey and efficient, offering real driving sensations!

This exemplar was bought new at the Alfa Romeo dealership in Cannes in 1974. The owner ordered it in this precise configuration: a grey body, a pine-green interior, VEGA rims and a Lecarra steering wheel instead of the standard Tulipé. A configuration for Madame who preferred another model after 6 months! This is how the current owner acquired it in 1974, not without a certain ease since the first owner was none other than her boss.
And for 51 years he has never tired of it. As age advances, he now wishes to pass it on.

The bodywork is in a presentation-imperfect state with some signs of wear due to age. The paint was redone in 2004. The green trim was original and requested by the first owner. The hood is in good condition and functional. The VEGA wheels are of fine workmanship and rather rare on this model. The original chrome trims are well preserved.

The upholstery was completely redone in 2004, respecting the original colour: seats, door panels, carpets with the stitched finishes. Today it presents with a light patina and in excellent condition.
The hood cover, however, is original and worn.
The interior of the car is in good condition for its age. The instrumentation is functional and the chrome components are in good condition.
Apart from the upholstery and carpet elements, the rest is original.

On the engine side, it has been scrupulously cared for by this enthusiast and former racing driver himself.
Oil changes have been carried out every 2 years in specialist garages since the beginning. We own a large part of the maintenance invoices.
The engine has never undergone a full opening, it runs as it should.
Among the latest works carried out:
- Ignition harness
- Radiator
- Water pump
- Front bearings and rear oil seals
- Brake calipers
The last oil change was performed in June 2025: replacement of all filters and fluids + change of the auxiliary belt.
The battery dates from July 2025. Other parts such as the distributor have been renewed over the past 20 years.

A car that has a charming allure thanks to its history. The owner has kept it as original through regular maintenance and care. It also presents in an original configuration that gives it a true vintage touch.
Today, almost 90 years old, he says it should continue to roam our roads and, above all, be treated as he has done for 51 years.
A genuine little favourite for this spider to come and try without hesitation.
