Description and highlights of this exemplar:
- Convertible version
- Very good overall condition
- Thorough restoration
- Rare Continental kit
Our Cadillac Series 62 Convertible, registered in 1950, today totals 12, 106 miles (the five-digit odometer is non-operational, so the mileage cannot be certified). Originally American, it is registered in France and changed ownership for the last time on 31 May 2012.
Presented in an elegant white exterior colour paired with a red interior, this exemplar stands out for its particularly clean presentation for its age. The bodywork is in very good condition, with perhaps a few tiny dings, and the chrome is also in excellent condition. No rust signs to report. The cabin is in good condition: the leather seats show some wear from time but remain very clean, and the steering wheel is in perfect condition. The on-board instrumentation works correctly, except for the odometer which is no longer operational.
Powered by its V8 engine paired with an automatic transmission, this Series 62 offers the classic charm of 1950s Cadillacs: smooth driving, pure American styling, and upper‑end comfort. The mechanics run very well, the engine runs smoothly and a battery disconnect is fitted.
Servicing has been carried out by classic car specialists. A partial history is available, including French invoices and an appraisal conducted in 2011 when it arrived in France.

Model history:
Presented in the early 1950s, the Cadillac Series 62 Convertible epitomises a period when the brand established itself as a benchmark of American style. The model sits on a large rear‑wheel‑drive chassis, powered by a 162‑hp V8, a engine designed primarily for flexibility and long-distance driving. The Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, already well established at Cadillac, accompanies this measured character, typical of post‑war large American cars.
The exemplar described, in white with a red interior, reprises a colour pairing common in period brochures, almost a visual signature. The Continental kit, with the spare wheel mounted externally at the rear, elongates the silhouette and alters the overhang, a detail often sought for its distinctive aesthetics as well as its link to 1950s American car culture.
The convertible adopts a relatively substantial fabric roof, but its mechanism blends reasonably well with the line when folded. Inside, the dashboard groups broad, chrome‑trimmed controls with ergonomics inherited from earlier models. The Series 62 Convertible thus marks a transitional period: when American cars combined V8 engines, automatic transmissions, and a pronounced taste for stylistic staging, long before the more rational standards of subsequent decades.
