Fiat was founded in 1899 in Turin, Italy.
The name stands for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino (F. I. A. T.).
Fiat began by producing small runs of cars, but soon grew rapidly. The company became very large in a short space of time and built all sorts of products: cars, lorries, aircraft engines, tractors and even trains.
During the First World War, Fiat became a major industrial player, as it produced a lot of military equipment. In the 1920s, Fiat became one of Europe’s largest car manufacturers. The famous Lingotto factory in Turin even boasted a rooftop test track.
In the 1930s, Fiat aimed to focus on ordinary people who could afford an affordable car. In 1936, they launched the Fiat Topolino 500 A. Topolino literally means 'little mouse' in Italian.
SIMCA
Simca was founded in 1934 by Mr Pogozzi, a French businessman who had been selling Fiat cars and Fiat parts for years.
Fiat wanted to sell its cars in France, but due to high import duties the idea arose to build Fiats directly in France, under Simca licence.

This is probably a 1937 Simca 5 (early model), of which around 40, 000 to 50, 000 examples were produced. More than 520, 000 Fiat Topolinos were built.
This Fiat/ Simca was delivered to its first owner on 30 June 1937.
In 1975, it received its first Dutch registration, and it is likely to have been restored around the year 2000.
In 2007, the car was sold to its previous owner, who wished to own a vintage car from its year of birth, 1937.
The previous owner took a great deal of pleasure from this car and has always kept it with care.
The car runs and shifts gears perfectly. All lights and indicators work correctly.
