Car & Classic TV – Have You Watched?

Six months ago, Christmas Day actually, we put together a post featuring our some of our past video productions, Car & Classic TV, if you will. It went down well, so we thought we best do another one. Why? Because we have since hired a truly exceptional videographer/editor and for the last six months he has been smashing out some really rather excellent videos. It’s 2022, so it made sense for us to dip our toe into the world of video. It’s one of the most intensely consumed formats in the world, after all. But that’s not our driver. No, we just want to bring you great content. And it’s not all about buying and selling. We have the classifieds in their tens of thousands and our auction platform for that. Our video output is all about engaging, enthusing, motivating and remind you why it’s great to be passionate about classic cars.

So, on the off chance you’ve missed our recent content, here are five films from the last six months that we’re sure will float your televisual boat. All filmed in glorious 4k, they’re the perfect thing to watch when you get a bit of downtime. And don’t forget, if you have a cool collection of cars, if you know of a barn find, or if you have a car with a fascinating story, we’re always on the lookout for fresh content to film – drop our Head of Editorial a line on [email protected].

1) The Time Machine

There are few cars as legendary, as iconic or as integral to the very fabric of pop culture as the mighty DeLorean DMC 12. As a car it was nothing short of hopeless. The engine was rubbish, the brakes barely worked, the transmission was weak and the build quality was questionable at best. But when Hollywood’s Bob Gale and Robert Zemekis stuck a flux capacitor in it, none of that mattered, because it became more than a car, it became the Time Machine. Three movies and millions of film fans later, the DeLorean has become a household name. In this video, we explore just what makes it so very special indeed with the aid of a screen accurate replica of Doc Brown’s car of choice.

2) The Project Car Collection

We all love a project car. The weekly Project Profile post we do here on the magazine is one of the most popular, with you lot flocking to it in the hopes of finding a forgotten classic that you can buy and breathe life back into. Sure, shiny, restored classics are great, but there is something fascinating about cars that have been forgotten. Luke over at Luden Automotive agrees, which is why he has the most staggering collection of project cars you have ever seen. Rovers, Jags, Renaults, Porsches and Benzes, he has it all. This is some grade A, top tier Car & Classic TV. If you watch this without checking your bank balance to see which one you can buy, we’ll be shocked.

3) The Rover 827 Hedge Find

Following on from Luke’s projects above, we have a Rover 827Si. It’s not the sexiest thing in the world, we know, but it was offered to us and we saw it as a great way to show that we’re enthusiasts here at Car & Classic, too. So, we bought this 1987 Rover 827Si, mainly because it has covered a mere 19,000 miles. Yes, 19,000. It looked very, very sorry for itself when we went to drag it out of a bush, but when we did we were staggered by how incredibly solid it was. No rust to repair, no damage, no signs of abuse. In fact, after a quick vacuum, the interior is quite literally like new. This is one heck of a find. And you seem to agree, as the video has amassed nearly 250,000 views at the time of writing this. We’re in the middle of filming the second instalment, so get involved!

4) The Bentley 3.0 at Brooklands

Can a car that’s nudging 100 years of age be used on the regular? Car & Classic TV set about finding out, you know, for science. To do this, we needed a car, so we brought in the boss’s 1925 Bentley 3.0 4 1/2, and we took over to the historic site of Brooklands for the day. As it turns out, these first-generation Bentleys are bought almost exclusively to be used, and used hard. As Tom, our Bentley’s owner explains, there is a fascinating industry surrounding these Bentleys that keeps traditional skills alive. And as such, it means owners can use the cars hard and use them often. It’s a fascinating, gorgeous film and one we’re thrilled to be able to share with you.

5) The BTCC Legends

Finally, our most recent film in which we go and explore the incredible work being done by CNC Motorsport AWS. In this small, Gloucestershire-based workshop, a father and son team are keeping motorsport legends alive. From the iconic D Type to the unexpected Rover P6 full fat race car, through to Group A BTCC specification Sierra RS500s being built in conjunction with Andy Rouse himself, this amazing company has it all. If you like your fast Fords and you want to see them being treated with as much care and enthusiasm as any modern day racer, this is the film for you.
