The Appeal

The Corniche was built for those that wanted the luxury of a Rolls-Royce, but preferred to be behind the wheel. Effectively a two-door variant of the Silver Shadow, the lines of the clean, attractive Corniche were unparalleled amongst its luxury peers, and the convertible option - such as this - was bound to get plenty of attention - a sportier, more exhilarating top-down experience that perfectly met the driver's zeitgeist of the 70s.

This particular Corniche is not just any example; it comes with an unrepeatable rock-star provenance, having been owned by Ray Thomas of The Moody Blues for 42 years. He was the car's second owner, having acquired it in 1976. Much of the past 25 years was then spent in storage, until the previous owner purchased it as a garage find - upon permission of Mrs. Lee Thomas - and set about a comprehensive overhaul.

Since then, it's been lightly used, and while some wear is showing commensurate with the car's age, it's a highly original example - picked out in beautiful Black Cherry with a gold, hand-painted coachline and an interior is trimmed in luxurious Connolly Vaumol leather, with matching headlining and Cumberland Stone carpets.

Additional equipment includes Lucas fog lamps, automatic speed control, an internally adjustable driver’s door mirror, a fire extinguisher, and a Radiomobile ‘Stereo 8’ tape player. With a complete factory build file from the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts’ Club, this Corniche is a compelling blend of history, luxury, and rock-star glamour.
