1974 Chevrolet Corvette C3 Convertible

Highlights

  • Rare manual model with L48 engine
  • Stand-out bronze and caramel colour combination
  • Original condition right down to factory radio
  • Some light mechanical work required
  • Supplied with body colour factory hard top

The Appeal

The C3 Stingray was a remarkable car. Two generations on from the original, Chevrolet pulled another icon out of the bag, one that perfectly embodied its Stingray name.
This was America’s sports car, albeit one that from ’73 increasingly erred towards a more sports tourer specification with smoother ride and facelifted aesthetics.
This ’74 convertible is finished in period-evoking two-tone brown and is fitted with a rare and desirable manual box. There are a couple of mechanical jobs requiring attention but once done this delivers a highly original, smartly presented V8 sports car to the buyer.

The History and Paperwork

  • Revised 1974 model with smoother suspension and revised nose
  • VIN records confirm this car was factory fitted with the L48 car in 1974 at the St Louise plant
  • First UK registered on 1th May 2017 and just two UK owners
  • There is not much history with the car but the owner bought it shortly after it arrived in the UK
  • Some spare paint is provided
  • Last MOT expired on 8th May 2019 and has covered only 1,500 miles since last test
  • No advisories on last MOT test

The Condition

  • Smart bronze metallic paintwork in good order with fibreglass panels well presented
  • Some signs of age and use around car but none unsightly or significant
  • Neat chromed sill trims accent the exterior aesthetics
  • Sits on factory correct dark grey deep dish alloy wheels with General Grabber tyres
  • Some light ‘nudge’ damage to nearside rear corner of car
  • Factory body colour hard top included
  • Contrasting cream vinyl roof in good order with clear window panels
  • Original interior including factory fitted radio in generally good, presentable order
  • Some signs of wear inside with marks on trim and switches patinated but not unsightly
  • Caramel leather seats in fair condition with some light creasing and small cracks in bases
  • Boot area appears to have original carpet which is presentable but lightly marked

The Mechanics

  • L48 5.7litre V8 Chevrolet engine developing 190bhp
  • Rare 4spd manual gearbox
  • The vendor advises that the car requires a new clutch
  • HT leads require requirement with high capacity versions
  • Recent hand-fabricated exhaust system fitted
  • Unfortunately at the time of writing we know little of the service history
