1975 Jensen Interceptor Convertible

*Vendor supplied images
** Please note that Vendor will pay all applicable UK registration fees and duties prior to handover of the vehicle. The car will be supplied with a UK registration number

Highlights

  • Rare convertible variant with a hydraulic folding roof
  • Restoration work undertaken in Kuwait
  • Range-topping 440 cu in (7.2-litre) V8
  • Will be UK registered, with all duties paid at Seller's expense, prior to handover

The Appeal

Combining V8 American muscle with Italian styling, the Interceptor was one of the most coveted cars of its era. Released in March 1974, the Interceptor Convertible was aimed at American buyers, identifying that there were few open-top grand tourers available by the early 1970s.
This left-hand drive 1975 example is a recent arrival in the UK having undergone some restoration work in Kuwait. The vendor demonstrates that its hydraulic roof operates correctly and the car presents well throughout. Once UK road registered, this will be a fabulous GT, ready for the fast-approaching summer months.

The History and Paperwork

  • Imported from Kuwait
  • 36,170 miles indicated - although there’s no record of the true figure
  • Recently subject to some restoration work
  • Likely a US-supplied example in left-hand drive with a MPH speedometer
  • Formerly part of a large collection, which saw limited use
  • Not yet registered in the UK but the vendor has offered to do this prior to collection

The Condition

  • A straight and solid-looking example
  • The paintwork presents well overall with few notable defects
  • Factory-correct alloy wheels
  • The folding roof presents well and the vendor demonstrates that it lowers correctly
  • The chrome trim presents well overall
  • Striking interior colour scheme
  • The upholstery appears free from heavy wear
  • The controls present well overall
  • Equipped with air conditioning
  • Slight condensation to the gauges and wear to the rocker switches
  • Period-correct Alpine tape deck

The Mechanics

  • Chrysler 440 cu in (7.2-litre) V8 petrol engine
  • Three-speed Torqueflite automatic gearbox
  • All presents well under the bonnet
  • In need of recommissioning prior to road use
