The Appeal

The Toyota Starlet Glanza is a revered hot hatch, known for its lightweight agility and turbocharged performance. Effectively the sports variety of the P90 (5th generation) Starlet, the Glanza was only sold in Japan. The car's secret was the 1331cc 4E-FTE engine, which in the decidedly tiny Starlet was capable of getting it from 0-100 in 11.9 seconds. As a result it was perhaps one of the most desirable hot-hatches of the era.

This Glanza has been meticulously maintained, with a comprehensive recent service using genuine Toyota parts, including a new timing belt, engine oil, and gearbox oil. The vehicle has had only one UK owner since its import approximately four years ago and has been dry stored throughout its time on British soil.

History and Paperwork

  • Registered in 1997
  • 1 UK owner from import
  • Vehicle was imported approximately four years ago and has had very little use
  • MOT valid until August 2024 with no advisories
  • Serviced by the current owner: engine oil, filter, gearbox and diff oil, and timing belt all genuine Toyota parts with invoices
  • Dry stored throughout the car's life
  • Prior to current ownership, only Japanese service history stamps
  • Currently indicates 12,329km on a five-figure odometer

The Condition

  • Underside looks in very good order with only a few minor surface rust areas on front arms
  • Chassis and sills present well
  • Bonnet has been repainted at some point and has very small marks in the paint on close inspection
  • Some stone chips on the lower front bumper
  • Passenger side wing upper area near bonnet line has a small scratch that has been touched in
  • Some very minor stone chips on the rear bumper's lowest extremities
  • Passenger side wing mirror does not electrically fold in or out but adjusts okay
  • Stunning 15-inch 5-spoke Buddy Club P1 white alloy wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes tyres all round
  •  Wheel condition is very good with no kerbing; wheels are fitted with thin red tuner wheel bolts
  • Missing one Glanza badge on rear quarter; however the vendor has a full set of correct size new decals that can be fitted by the new owner
  • Inside, the cabin has EVO 7 GSR front Recaro seats fitted; these are both in good clean condition
  • Floor mats need replacement, mainly the driver's side mat
  • Area where the three gauges have been fitted looks a little untidy; would benefit from a new gauge pod that fits properly
  • Rear of the car has been partially stripped out and has a Miracle Next Generation Parts cross bar fitted in boot area along with extra bracing on the floor behind both seats
  • Aftermarket gauges for water, boost, and oil temperature
  • Ark Design advanced boost controller
  • Blitz advanced dual turbo timer
  • Momo competition steering wheel
  • Original floor mats are present; however, the driver's side one is quite worn and would probably benefit from replacement mats
  • Vehicle comes with original rear seats, seat belts, and plastic trim should you wish to return to a 5-seat car
