The Appeal
We, like the rest of the classic world, love the Jaguar Mk2. There are the looks and, of course, the olde-worlde, gentleman’s club interior charm. But, we’re also with those who make a strong case that the Daimler-badge version of the Mk2 is even better.
The argument goes like this, and it is one we buy into. The small block Turner V8 is one of the greatest - and perhaps most overlooked - of post-war motors, a smooth, sonorous unit that perfectly suits Jaguar’s svelte saloon. Then, there is the enhanced luxury specification of the Daimler. And finally, two features that make these cars ideal for road trips and as touring companions - power steering and an auto box.
All of this is a precursor to explaining why this 1966 2 ½ Litre V8 should be on your shopping list. This particular car is in good order. In recent times it has been resprayed in original dark blue to complement the burgundy leather interior. Between 2022 and 2024 over £4,000 has been invested in areas such as new front and rear brake discs and pads and attention to the wiring.
Few cars look as good and deliver a sense of classic occasion quite like a good Daimler V8. This one looks very appealing.

The Condition
- Bare metal respray in dark blue which appears to be the original colour
- Paintwork presents well with some light signs of use as shown in photographs
- These include scuffs to nearside doors and front arch and offside rear spat
- Bodywork is very presentable with some light early signs of deterioration to note
- Base of both offside doors show light bubbling
- There is also a crack to the nearside front wing at the base
- Underside appears to be solid with some light flaking to the underseal
- The underside would benefit from some light remedial attention to preserve the condition
- Exterior chromework in good order including bumpers and trim with light pitting to some components
- Lights in good order with no notable damage and clear headlight lenses
- Sits on correct steel wheels with matching body colour trim and chrome hub caps
- Burgundy leather Daimler-specification interior in good overall condition with light patina
- The interior is in gently aged condition with some evidence of remedial repairs
- Front bench with individual seats and seatbelts fitted to front and rear seats
- Veneers to doors and dashboard in very good condition throughout
- Fitted with a classic period radio
- Headlining appears to be factory-correct and is in good condition
- Door cards present well with even finish and no obvious distortion
