The Appeal
On paper, the MGC was a simple proposition - stick a 3.0-litre straight-six engine in the beloved MGB GT body shell. It was, however, the sort of task that results in a lot of complexities, and the earliest cars struggled a bit on the market due to how much that weightier block influenced handling.
As a result, the 1969 model year cars are particularly desirable among enthusiasts, as they featured significant improvements over the earlier examples including revised gearing, a close ratio gearbox with overdrive, and enhanced suspension setup that addressed many of the handling criticisms of the earlier cars. The result is an altogether superb GT that's become rather scarce.

This particular matching numbers example comes from a vendor who is a lifelong MGC enthusiast with an impressive collection, including the MGC GT his father purchased new in 1968 and another he raced successfully in 1973. Built between December 1968 and January 1969 according to its Heritage Certificate, this GT benefits from all the late-production refinements and presents beautifully in a true best-of-British livery of Racing Green, chrome wire-spoke wheels and a black-with-red-piping cabin. With comprehensive history dating back to 1977 and a major restoration completed around 2003, this is a very well-sorted example that we expect will garner plenty of interest.
