The Appeal
It wasn’t, at first glance, an obvious idea. But when TWR successfully badgered Jaguar to take the big XJS coupe racing it was a resounding success. The car trounced the German and Italian competition and went on to win the 1984 European Touring Car Championship.
Naturally, a road-going version followed. Developed by JaguarSport, a 50:50 venture between Jaguar and TWR, the XJR-S got a range of tweaks that made it a more sporting and sharper handling alternative to the standard car. An aerodynamic body kit and premium Connolly leather cabin brought the aesthetics up to a similar level.
Just 326 5.3L versions of the XJR-S were built, of which this car is amongst the last to have left the lines. Very original and finished in fetching dark blue ‘moonstone’ metallic with cream leather cabin, it is in great and highly usable order. There has been considerable recent work by specialist Heritage Classics across the running gear, mechanicals, structure and aesthetics.
Little used since that work - which included a full service and coolant flush - this car has current MOT with no advisories and is ready to enjoy. The XJR-S is one of the rarest and most interesting of the many XJS variants and this one stands out.

The Condition
- Dark blue ‘moonstone’ metallic paint in good, mainly original condition

- Speedline 18in alloy wheels in good condition but with some light deterioration visible
- Sits on quality Pirelli tyres with good tread and condition visible

- Interior is well kept and original with some signs of age and wear visible but light
