The Appeal
The Westfalia Joker is widely regarded as the definitive camper conversion for the third-generation VW Transporter, and 1981 examples hold particular appeal. This was one of the final model years to receive the characterful air-cooled 2.0-litre flat-four before Volkswagen moved to water-cooled power in 1982, making it a compelling proposition for enthusiasts who value the mechanical simplicity and distinctive sound of the older engine format.
This example wears green paintwork with a contrasting white roof and period-correct Joker decals on the doors. The cabin presents a typical Westfalia interior layout, while the rear living space is equipped for off-grid use courtesy of a solar controller and power inverter. Originally supplied in Germany, it has been UK-registered since 2011 and comes with some recent invoices.
