1966 Austin Healey 3000 Mk III Phase 2
Originally dispatched from Abingdon on 31st January 1966, This Austin Healey 3000 Mk III chassis H-BJ8-L/ 34630 was exported to Paris, France. The car was purchased by the current owner from an avid Healey collector in Australia who had previously purchased it may years before from the USA. In Australia the car was subjected to major restoration works over a number of years but was unable to fully complete the car due to business and family commitments. The car was sold in the winter of 2015 to the current owner who re-patriated the vehicle to the UK in early 2016. Upon arrival to the UK, the engine was fully rebuilt by a marque specialist to complete the car. UK registration was completed in July 2016 with the current owner using the car sparingly ever since.
The Heritage certificate supplied with the car shows the vehicle to have originally been British racing green with black interior. During the cars restoration it was repainted in its current colour scheme of British Racing Green with Tan interior. This final and most powerful incarnation of the ‘Big’ Healey is very much in standard specification but has had a full lead-free conversion, and is fitted with uprated fuel pump, electronic ignition, overdrive and front spotlight bar.
This a structurally superb car with excellent panel gaps and fitted with its original outer body work. The engine has excellent oil pressure hot or cold, runs smoothly and does not overheat. the gearbox syncros are excellent and the overdrive engages smoothly. Running on Original 2” SU carbs. A hardly used and well looked after this is an ideal car for continental touring and UK driving,
New chrome 72 spoke wheels and 180HR Michelin XAS tyres were fitted in May 2016. Overdrive repair work completed in November 2018 and pre-sale major service and vehicle fettling completed by JME Healeys 2019
This desirable last-of-the-line 3000 MkIII needs to be driven to full appreciate and is offered for sale with UK V5C Registration Document, Heritage certificate, and previous MOT certificates.
