Citroen CX. The last real Citroen! Mould breaking in its day and designed to achieve an exceptionally low drag coefficient, hence its name, the CX was also traditional, incorporating as it does Citroen’s hydro-pneumatic suspension and typically quirky instrumentation.
Despite, or perhaps because of this the CX enjoyed tremendous sales success when it was launched in 1974, so much so that right hand drive versions were delayed until late the next year due to demand for cars on the continent.
The car went on to enjoy a long production run, ending in 1991, further proving the soundness and popularity of the design. The car even enjoyed competition success in long distance rallying.
Delivered new to its only previous owner on the 1st of August 1976 by California Autocentre Citroen in Birmingham. In the following 43 years it has covered only 67500 miles. This is true time capsule hardly used by its owner.
Found by us locally and lovingly recommissioned, the car has enjoyed a significant refurbishment which has left the car in first rate order mechanically but retained the cars largely original paint work.
This iconic styled vehicle with its revolutionary suspension, features and looks far ahead of its time has become incredibly rare. This is a real classic destined for the same heady heights as the DS before it. Where could you find another car like this?
