Built 22nd November 1961, chassis 860045 was despatched to W Watson and Co Ltd of Liverpool who sold the car to its first owner, a KW Burton in December of that year. After a change of owner our car was next recorded as undergoing a colour change in 1972, duly recorded and stamped by Cheshire County Council in the cars original buff log book which still exists.
Four further owners then appear on the modern V5 for the car and in 2016, CMC sold MCM303 to its current owner, who has covered only a few hundred miles in the car since, largely storing the car, but ensuring it was kept MOT'd up until a few years ago.
Now with a fresh MOT, MCM303 is returning to the market. As an unrestored but running and drivable E Type from the very earliest days of production, she is a rare car indeed. Supported by a Heritage Certificate and the original log book, she would make a fantastic basis for either a preservation or indeed restoration project. Indeed we would be delighted to discuss this with any potential purchaser.
Originally finished in Opalescent Gunmetal, some traces of this original finish are still visible on areas such as the car's engine frames. Gunmetal is probably the most sought-after colours for Series 1 E Types and is comparatively rare amongst early cars. To find an example that can justifiable wear this colour, as recorded on the Heritage Certificate, is yet another reason to consider this car.
