The MGB is a two-door sports car manufactured and marketed from 1962 until 1980 by the British Motor Corporation later the Austin-Morris division of British Leyland, as a four-cylinder, soft-top sports car. It was announced and its details first published on 19 September 1962. The MGB was one of the first cars to feature controlled crumple zones designed to protect the driver and passenger in a 30 mph impact with an immovable barrier (200 ton).
The GT version was announced in October 1965 and was an overnight success, again it was an affordable and very practical car that could carry two additional passengers in the rear compartment. The rear seat back could be folded to give a large luggage platform which was accessed from the stylish rear tailgate.
This is the most desirable chrome bumper MGB GT finished in its original color Damask Red. It is equipped with a 4 speed Overdrive transmission which is quite rare. A Wabasto style fabric roll-back sunroof has also been retrofitted to this GT for some great open air touring. Recent performance upgrades include a Weber carburetor and electronic ignition for more spirited driving. There has been recent service on this GT to include, 4 new tires, new battery, new master clutch hydraulic cylinder and new clutch hydraulic slave cylinder. All fluids have been checked topped off or replaced as needed. This BGT is ready for local shows or cars and coffee events.
