Original UK RHD 'Matching Numbers' Mercedes 280SL 'Pagoda' Sports - VIN: the details below4, Engine No: the details below first registered on 17th August 1970 and finished in its exact and original specification as per the Mercedes Data Card of Mercedes Red - colour code 571H, Black Leatherette interior trim, Red carpets, Black Mohair Soft Top, Black Hard Top, 2. 8 Litre six cylinder fuel injected Engine, 4 Speed Automatic Transmission, Power Assisted Steering, a period 'Becker' Radio, White Steering Wheel and its original Steel Wheels with full-face Wheel Trims in Red.
The restoration on this car consisted of a body restoration and mechanical overhaul and all Chrome-work is either new or has been re-chromed, the interior is new by Aldridge Trimming, the wood trim has been replaced, new tinted Windscreen and tinted Door glass, all new rubber seals, new Exhaust System, new Firestone Tyres, new Brake Calipers, recent new Black Mohair Soft Top by Aldridge trimming and the paintwork and bodywork is simply exceptional and it has the small fillets on the front wings adjacent to the headlamps - very important for the purist!
This car also has a History file containing lots of invoices from previous owners, MOT certificates back to 1986, old Tax Discs, Drivers Handbook, ownership history - 6 former keepers from new, only 3 owners in the last 16 years, and a hand written log of MOT's and mileages covered each year from 1986 when it was 1, 573 until the last MOT in July 2017 when it had recorded 28, 763 miles, so only 27, 190 miles covered in 31 years.
The restoration of this car was only finished in May 2018 and this car is exceptional condition throughout as you can see from the photographs and it drives superbly.
