The A310 was the last model designed by the Dieppe company's legendary founder, Jean Rédélé, and was built for decidedly practical reasons. Its predecessor had earned an impressive reputation in motorsport, and the company was riding a wave of near-international fame, but it had aspirations for a grand tourer - and the A110 was simply too focused to meet those expectations.
The A310, then, was intended to be a cure. Still a hand-built, labour-intensive vehicle, it sported wedge-shaped styling that looked effortlessly cool, while retaining the lightweight fibreglass bodywork and, initially, the familiar 4-cylinder engine. Sadly, it never really succeeded commercially - probably to the relief of those who built it, considering it took 130 hours per car - but it quickly became a legend among enthusiasts.
This particular example from 1973 stands out as a rare model in Group 4 configuration, ready and waiting to take to the track as well as the road. It's a fine example of sporting, angular charisma that has only grown in grace and appeal with age. It comes with its FIA PTH passport and a documented 20-year history.image.png1.67 MB
