The Appeal

The arrival of the 100-6 is when Donald’s svelte sports car really earned its ‘Big Healey’ epithet. Six-cylinder power appeased the US market and finally gave the car the performance to match the looks. 
This car began its life stateside, remaining in dry Arizona and California before returning to Europe in 2014. The vendor acquired it from renowned specialist ER Classics in 2015 and has owned it ever since. 
An older restoration that is now finished in the classic combination of Carmine Red over Old English White, it is a very pretty car in great order. That is largely thanks to the care of its long-term keeper, who has garaged it carefully, driven less than 2,000 miles and maintained it well. It has been regularly serviced, professionally tuned and is said to run good oil and water pressure. The optional overdrive works correctly on 3rd and 4th gears. 
The car is largely standard save for a couple of useful upgrades including a battery cut off switch, high torque starter and rear reflectors changed for indicators. 
Recent work has included a new mohair hood and bags for the side screens. It is a mark of the vendor’s fastidious approach that the car has been regularly MOT’d, despite this not being a legal requirement. That is a great boon for buyers. The current MOT runs to May 2026 with no advisories. 
The vendor says: 
“Great fun - you’re very close to the ground in this car and it corners without any movement, for a 1957 car that handling is superb. Still great fun on a summer's day or a sunny day in the winter, even, and a real head Turner.”

History and Paperwork

  • Manufactured in 1957 as a left-hand drive export model 
  • Originally sold to Brighton Motorsports in Arizona
  • Appears to have spent its life in Arizona and California 
  • Imported to Europe in 2014 by ER Classics in Rotterdam
  • Registered in the UK in June 2015 with one keeper 
  • Acquired by current keeper since June 2015 
  • Has covered approximately 2,000 miles
  • Originally finished in ivory white
  • Older restoration in Carmine red with lower half painted in Old English White in 2014
  • Custom-made £1,500 Mohair hood fitted around four years ago 
  • Specially made cover to allow the roof rail to remain above the car for easier use

The Condition

  • Bodywork presents well in two-tone Carmine red and Old English White
  • A few minor areas on the paintwork and small stone chips on the rear
  • Underside and floors appear in good condition with no rust problems
  • Sills are in good order according to the seller 
  • The vendor believes the car may have undergone restoration in the late 1980s or 1990s
  • Bright chromework in good order as shown 
  • Painted wire wheels in good order with matching spare 
  • Matching classic-style tyres showing good sidewall condition and plenty of tread 
  • Interior appears in good condition with original leatherette seat covers in black with red piping
  • Original steering wheel present
  • Carpets show little sign of wear
  • Front seat cushions and door cards could benefit from replacement according to the vendor, though currently serviceable
  • Custom-made Mohair hood in good condition fitted around four years ago 
  • Rear reflectors have been upgraded to proper indicators for improved safety
  • Battery cut-out lock fitted to prevent battery leakage and improve security
  • No structural advisories on current MOT 

The Mechanics

  • 2,639cc C-Series straight six engine 
  • Vendor says car has the original leaded petrol engine 
  • He uses a lead additive which he says is easy to use
