The Appeal

While motor racing was always Enzo Ferrari’s number one passion, none of Maranello’s string of victories would have been possible without the sale of high-end road cars. Customers wanted long-distance grand tourers in which they could traverse Continental Europe, and that’s exactly what Ferrari gave them. The 330 GT 2+2 was launched in January 1964, featuring the legendary Colombo V12 in 4.0-litre form.
This 1965 example is rather special, as one of 124 so-called ‘interim’ cars which, as the name suggests, were produced between the end of Series I production and the start of Series II. That meant that interim 330 GT 2+2s featured aspects of both generations. They retained the quad headlamp design of the Series I, while benefitting from the new five-speed transmission, top-hinged pedals, power windows, and upgraded all-round disk brakes.
This 1965 car is in very good, usable condition having undergone restoration work over the past year. Jobs included a partial repaint, some corrosion repair, interior refurbishment and a comprehensive mechanical overhaul. The V12 has subsequently been tested and has been given a clean bill of health, while the car has also passed Danish technical inspection, which is valid until July 2032.
For those who favour their Ferraris in GT form, this 330 GT 2+2 would be a superb addition to your collection. As the photographs attest, it’s a stunning example.

The Pininfarina-designed 330 GT is one of Ferrari’s more understated cars and we love it all the more for that reason. It’s irrefutably elegant, not a vehicle that shouts “look at me!” like so many of today’s models.
This example presents beautifully while remaining very usable. By that we mean there’s a gentle and consistent patina throughout, ensuring this is a car you won’t be afraid to use as its makers originally intended. Following professional repair and a partial repaint, the bodywork looks very straight and solid, with no notable wear or deterioration to report. The Ferrari still sits on Boranni wire wheels, all of which present well; the vendor notes that one of them required refurbishment, which has now been carried out. The paint finish and brightwork all looks in lovely order, with no heavy wear reported.
On the inside, all presents beautifully, aided by the newly refurbished front seats which really look the part. The dashboard veneer looks in very good order, as do the controls, instruments and switchgear it holds. We understand the cabin electrics to be in good working order, with no known faults reported.

When you see the specifications, you begin to appreciate why enthusiasts covert this rare ‘Interim’ variant. It benefits from a number of improvements. Whereas Series I cars had a four-speed overdrive gearbox, this 330 has a five-speed, and other enhancements include much easier to operate top-hinged pedals and greatly improved all-round disc brakes.
As noted above, this car has been subject to a comprehensive mechanical refresh over the past year, with several consumable components replaced alongside a full service. The vendor demonstrates that the V8 idles contently and revs freely, making one of the most glorious sounds ever to come from a car’s exhaust. The Ferrari has passed Danish technical inspection and is ready to enjoy.
