Back in the day, the saying went that you bought an Aston Martin when you were on your way to making, but you bought a Jensen Interceptor when you had really made it. Judging by the long list of celebrities and captains of industry who queued up for one of West Brom's Touring-styled road rockets, we'd have to agree.
This car is one of the final MkIII cars with the 7.2L Chrysler V8 that was shared with Detroit's most muscly muscle cars. Thanks to a £40,000 restoration by specialist Miles Classic, it is in really, really good condition. That work took three years and was completed in 2020 - the car has covered less than 700 miles in the intervening time.
Finished in burgundy with a beige leather interior, the car benefits from a host of improvements that improve reliability and drivability, The cooling system has been upgraded with a double core radiator and the suspension and brakes are also improved. Alloy heads add confidence to long distance drives while a stainless steel exhaust enhances the bass-tone V8 burble that is key to the Interceptor's appeal.
Opportunities to properly capitalise on someone else's investment do not come along often. With all that work and such sparing use since, this is one of them. The car comes to market with the added transparency of a voluntary advisory-free MOT to September.
