The Appeal
Back in the day, the saying went that you bought an Aston Martin when you were on your way to making, but you bought a Jensen Interceptor when you had really made it. Judging by the long list of celebrities and captains of industry who queued up for one of West Brom's Touring-styled road rockets, we'd have to agree.
This car is one of the final MkIII cars with the 7.2L Chrysler V8 that was shared with Detroit's most muscly muscle cars. Thanks to a £40,000 restoration by specialist Miles Classic, it is in really, really good condition. That work took three years and was completed in 2020 - the car has covered less than 700 miles in the intervening time.
Finished in burgundy with a beige leather interior, the car benefits from a host of improvements that improve reliability and drivability, The cooling system has been upgraded with a double core radiator and the suspension and brakes are also improved. Alloy heads add confidence to long distance drives while a stainless steel exhaust enhances the bass-tone V8 burble that is key to the Interceptor's appeal.
Opportunities to properly capitalise on someone else's investment do not come along often. With all that work and such sparing use since, this is one of them. The car comes to market with the added transparency of a voluntary advisory-free MOT to September.
The vendor says:
"I bought these cars and had them completely restored by a well reputed specialist as a labour of love and at no expense spared. I know I will never get my money back but I am thinning out my collection and I hope these will go to a lovely new home"
Exterior bodywork fully stripped and repainted by Miles Classics
Work on the body included a bare metal strip and removal of any corrosion
After this the underside was stone chip protected, and the whole car etch primed
Seam sealer was then applied, before two top coats and three lacquer coats
Bodywork still presents in impressive condition having covered under 700 miles since
Factory GKN alloy wheels present in very good order, fitted with Pirelli tyres
Chromework presents very well having been refurbished during the restoration
Cream leather interior showing some very light signs of use and creasing only
Complete set of dials and switchgear in impressive condition
Retro-look modern audio head unit fitted
The seller describes the car’s condition as ‘A1’
A three-year restoration by Miles Classics has left this Interceptor in a fantastic condition, which can truly be appreciated in the image gallery. The bodywork and interior have both been finished to a very high standard and the car has been driven fewer than 700 miles since.
The car’s engine bay also appears to be in impressive order, having clearly enjoyed the same level of care and attention in its restoration and rebuild, as the remainder of the car. The underside of the car which is pictured in the gallery is no exception, presenting in immaculate order.

Our vendor reports the car is in excellent mechanical condition
Used particularly sparingly since its impressive and comprehensive restoration, this 1973 Jensen Interceptor III delivers the refined performance expected of a proper grand tourer. Its rebuilt 7.2-litre Chrysler V8 is noted to start effortlessly, pull strongly, and deliver its power smoothly via the three-speed TorqueFlite automatic, offering relaxed but strong performance on the road.
The overhauled suspension and braking systems provide a confident, composed ride with accurate steering and solid stopping power. With restored mechanicals throughout, this Interceptor is noted by its owner to drive as it should—effortless, comfortable, and ready to enjoy.image.png3.72 MB
