The Appeal

The Ninety - later to become the Defender - was a worthy successor to the original leaf-sprung Series Landie. Really, that's quite an incredible pitch, and the resulting car is still a fairly common sight in the British countryside, merrily ploughing its trade as if it hasn't been more than forty years since their introduction.

This one is particularly special - it's carrying the desirable (and much quieter) 2.5-litre petrol unit under the bonnet, and spent about 23 years in at Sussex University - albeit most likely as part of their horticultural team rather than studying.

This fabulous off-roader retains its original Eastnor Green paintwork with ivory roof, preserving its authentic character. The solid original chassis shows no signs of previous welding and has been protected with Lanoguard coating applied in Autumn last year. Besides that, it carries refurbished wheels, new seatbelts, and has undergone plenty of mechanical work to keep it at its best, ready and raring to go.
