The Appeal
The XJS was originally intended as a replacement for the E-Type. That's pretty wild, at first glance - this big tourer's bold lines and buttresses seemed like a completely contrarian language compared to the curvy little E-type - but it quickly took on a similar reputation. These cars were huge business, running continuously for twenty-one years, and quickly became one of the most aspirational tourers on the market. Jaguar had managed to smash the zeitgeist again!
The final iteration of the XJS was introduced in 1991, and was amongst the most refined. The engine was upgraded nicely, the bodywork lightly modernised and the transmission brought up to modern snuff. It was a grand improvement all-round, and while it would be the last appearance of the lineage on the market, it most definitely sealed itself into a fabulous legacy.
This 1993 example, finished in Kingfisher Blue upon Magnolia, is a particularly handsome car. Having been in the care of the seller's late friend since 2010 and looked after by a respected Independent Jaguar Specialist for the past 15 years, this XJS is a beautiful looker, and is ready and waiting to be driven away.
