The Appeal
There are Defenders and then there is the Wolf. This was the Army-issyue variant that got a raft of improvements, most notably stronger chassis.
This 1998 Wolf 110 remained with the Army until 2022 when it was decommissioned and acquired by the current keeper. Still sporting its green camouflage and Wolf fittings, including the side-mounted spare and bonnet tools, it is a very purposeful-looking workhorse with the added versatility of the 110 wheelbase and a soft top configuration. It has covered less than 71,000 miles from new.
The specification is equally impressive. Alongside the chassis strengthening and heavy-duty axles, it has a Remus upgrade that includes extra roll-over protection, chassis wax injection and extra soundproofing.
This is clearly a working vehicle, but the condition is impressive. That is backed by the lengthy MOT, which has no structural advisories, and the vendor’s annual servicing regime. He tells us that it is in good mechanical condition with no unwarranted noises from the engine or transmission. Everything works correctly.
If you need a robust workhorse you’d be hard-pressed to do better than this well specified and practical Wolf.
