The Appeal

Replacing the Range Rover Classic was an enormous task for Land Rover's design team. How do you create a worthy successor to one of the most iconic shapes of all time? Their answer was the P38 - a car that pays homage to the old while embracing the future. It was hugely ambitious and, collectors today are recognising the immense significance and the considerable merits of this fine car.

This 1998 example is exactly the sort of P38 you should be looking at. it has been kept to the highest level in terms of cosmetic and mechanical condition, with full history included. It's a highly-specced V8-engined HSE model with Niagara metallic and ash grey leather. Specifications include side steps, bull bar, lamp guards, extra veneers to the centre console, rare 20-inch genuine Range Rover split rims on Continental tyres, electric windows, seats and sunroof, as well as air conditioning.

It gets better. What sets this particular example apart is its fascinating provenance, having been owned by a prominent figure in the polo world with connections to the British royal family, combined with its comprehensive recent mechanical refurbishment and desirable specification. The vendor says:

"The last owner kept her solely for use for Polo passion, hence her journeys were from Knightsbridge to Ham Polo Club, where he was Chairman for 23 years and Vice President for 5 years. He was also President of FIP (International Federation of Polo) from 2014-2018. Think regular chats with playing chums by his Range Rover, like Princes William and Harry as well, as our now King Charles III."
