The Appeal
Introduced in 1997, the 996-generation Porsche 911 represented a major turning point for the model line, bringing an all-new platform, redesigned interior and the first water-cooled flat-six engine fitted to a production 911. Once controversial among purists, the 996 is now increasingly appreciated for its compact proportions, usable performance and engaging analogue character.
This example was specified as a Carrera 4, adding all-wheel-drive traction to the sought-after manual gearbox. It has also been substantially mechanically refreshed, with work including a replacement engine with an uprated IMS bearing, rebuilt gearbox and new clutch, and offers the peace of mind of a positive borescope inspection as well as extensive accompanying service history.
Further enhanced by the desirable X74 sports suspension package, this Carrera 4 offers an appealing combination of driver engagement and usability, and would be equally suited to weekend B-road drives, trips further afield or occasional track-day enjoyment at the hands of its next enthusiast owner. image.png1.69 MB
