The Appeal
In 2002 The Royal Automobile Club arranged for its members to have VIP access to the Bentley and Aston Martin stands at the annual motorshow in Birmingham. For members who could not attend, the firm arranged for a specially commissioned DB7, the first to be built to 2003 Model Year specifications, to be displayed in the foyer of its Pall Mall headquarters.
Just one was built and it is this car. It has covered less than 11,000 miles from new and retains its array of bespoke RAC features. These include paintwork matching the Club’s livery, RAC grille badges, dark blue leather interior with walnut veneers plus embossed headrests and mats.
Even without that interesting provenance, this car would stand out. The vendor tells us that be bought the car new. The ultra low mileage is supported by a run of servicing and maintenance by main dealers and specialists. The handbook shows 15 stamps to October 2023 with a further service by Aston Martin Hatfield in October 2024 at 10.589 miles. The current MOT runs to October 2025 with no advisories and few miles covered since the last test.
The car is in good order, only a handful of minor cosmetic points to note in photos. These reflect its originality and could be easily remedied. Any DB7 is a treat, but this car’s sparing use, impressive maintenance history and unique provenance make it stand out.
The vendor says:
“This vehicle was commissioned by the Royal Automobile Club and displayed in their rotunda in 2003. I purchased the vehicle new directly from the Park Lane dealership. It has an RAC badge on the front grill, RAC emblems on the front headrests and foot mats, and a metal plate inscripted with the details above.”
