The Appeal
Well, just look at it. Whether you choose to take this onto the track or simply enjoy hooning around and scaring the local wildlife, this is one great-looking Mk1 Escort.
The car began life in the UK as a 1.1L 2dr saloon, but has led an interesting and varied life since. It has spent time in South Africa where it raced during 2017 before returning to the UK. It was extensively restored in 2019 when it was refinished in the current white paintwork with black bonnet.
Beneath that black panel is a 2L Pinto motor with 45 Webers and 5spd gearbox, There are discs all round and at the back a Baby Atlas rear axle. There is a boot-mounrted fuel tank too.
The car is road legal and there is even a recent MOT indicating its solid structural condition. If shiny, restored Mexicos, RS2000s and Twin Cams are not quite your thing, here’s a simpler, entertaining Mk1 that you can use and enjoy.
